Rocks off to States
BRIAN MEEHAN returned from New York last Saturday after saddling Red Rocks to win the Grade One £150,000 Man O’War Stakes at Belmont Park – but his stable star stayed put.
American-owned Red Rocks has been transferred to the care of Mark Hennig, who will prepare the horse for another Breeders’ Cup, bid at Santa Anita in California.[>

Red Rocks, who landed the Breeders’ Cup Turf for Meehan, right, at Churchill Downs two years ago, runs next in the Sword Dancer Invitational at Saratoga on August 16.[>

Nobody has a better eye for a bargain than Richard Hannon, Meehan’s mentor. Hannon has six of the 23 runners declared for the £140,000 Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury tomorrow and has farmed the event six times.[>

Richard Hughes rides Pure Poetry, though it is worth noting that this colt is the only one on which Hannon’s stable jockey could do the weight. [>
