Muddy great start at Leighs
GREAT LEIGHS, pictured right, overcame the elements to stage their initial public meeting yesterday as they became Britain’s first new racecourse to open in 80 years.
Despite a sea of mud in the infield, Great Leighs completed the work that the BHA course inspectorate had insisted on to pass a 9am inspection.[>

The six-race meeting went off without hitch although there was controversy in the two-year-old race when Yukozuna drifted from odds-on out to 3-1 with new favourite Mister Green landing a gamble for Mister Green.[>
