Tottenham and England star Harry Kane almost made move to Premier League rivals

HARRY REDKNAPP has revealed that he tried to sign Tottenham star Harry Kane during his time at QPR.

Harry Kane Player Profile

The Spurs forward has been in terrific form this season, scoring 19 Premier League goals and netting just 79 seconds into his England debut last Friday.

Kane has now been rewarded with a place in Roy Hodgson's starting XI against Italy this evening, and speaking to Prostate Cancer UK, Redknapp admitted that he twice tried bringing the 21-year-old to Loftus Road on a loan deal.

QPR tried to sign Harry Kane on loan from Spurs

I was going to loan him at the start of last season and the season before and it fell through

Harry Redknapp

He said: "I tried to take him on loan at QPR. I was going to loan him at the start of last season and the season before and it fell through.

"He ended up going to Norwich, went to Leicester, but didn't have great times there really. Tottenham loaned him out but he's come back to Tottenham and now he's made the breakthrough. It has been great for him this year, his confidence must be sky high.

"He's a smashing lad as well and a really good player. You love to see a boy like that doing well. He's a down to earth normal lad; there's no big time Charlie. He's a really lovely boy."
