has confirmed that and Anthony Martial are among his injured players who will be available to play again this season. The French duo are nearing their contract expiries but will likely have the opportunity to represent the club again as part of a handful of injury boosts.

Varane has missed four games since United's 4-3 defeat at Chelsea at the start of April, while Martial hasn't featured since the 3-0 loss against AFC Bournemouth at Old Trafford on December 9.

Both injury-prone stars are set to leave the club when their current deals expire in June, sparking some suggestions they may not don the United shirt again.

However, Ten Hag has assured supporters that while there has been no progress in contract negotiations, Varane is expected to be available to select before the end of the season.

He also confirmed Martial is on course to be available in the coming weeks as one of three long-term absentees making comebacks.

Mason Mount will return from a small problem that kept him out against Coventry City and Sheffield United on Saturday when Burnley visit Old Trafford in the Premier League.

"So [we have the] same squad [as against Sheffield United] but apart from Mason Mount. He will return into the squad," Ten Hag told reporters on Friday.

He added: "Yes, I think we will see them [Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez and Martial] all in the season.

"They all returned onto the pitch. Next week, they have to make the step into team training and they can be available for the last weeks. They progress well."

Shaw has been limited to just 15 appearances this season and hasn't played since February 15. His continued injury woes have reportedly made a new left-back a priority this summer.

Martinez has managed just 11 games due to complications with his recovery from foot surgery and a separate knee issue, followed by a calf strain.

Shaw and Martinez are crucial members of Ten Hag's strongest team; their absences have undoubtedly contributed to United's underwhelming campaign.

Their returns, along with Varane's, would offer a significant boost in the lead-up to the FA Cup final against Manchester City on May 25.

However, for now, despite Mount's return this weekend, Ten Hag's options remain thin. Marcus Rashford and seven defenders look set to remain unavailable.

United would strengthen their grip on the European spots with another win, though. Anything less against Vincent Kompany's Championship-bound side wouldn't be good enough.
