Arsenal receive Sami Khedira BOOST as Schalke admit deal is 'unlikely'

Schalke, who had been thought to be leading the charge for the German international's signature have admitted they'll struggle to sign him.

Roberto Di Matteo told German TV station Sport 1: "What coach would not want Khedira in their team? The door here is always open for him.

"But he will be spoiled for choice and I think it will be very difficult to bring Khedira here."

Khedira is out of contract in the summer and has admitted himself that it's time to call an end to his stay at the Bernabeu.

He told Kicker magazine: "It’s not a decision against Real Madrid. I want to start a new stage in my career and continue to grow."

And Arsenal will now be keen to secure the midfielder's services, as reports suggest he's long been top of Arsene Wenger's shortlist.
