Suarez and Torres didn't get chance to say goodbye to Liverpool - Carragher

LIVERPOOL legend Jamie Carragher hopes former strikers Luis Suarez and Fernando Torres will get "the chance to say goodbye" to the Anfield faithful this month.

Carragher, along with Suarez and Torres, are set to play in an All-Star charity match at the home of Liverpool.

Suarez scored 82 goals over three years before leaving the club last summer for Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Torres netted 81 goals in four seasons but left the club under a cloud when he signed for Chelsea for £50million back in 2011.

Combined, the two players have earned Liverpool an estimated £125m in transfer fees and Carragher, whose team face Suarez and Torres in Steven Gerrard's select XI, hopes they will get the chance to say one last goodbye to the Kop.

"You look at Suarez and Torres - Steven's front two who I'll be up against... so there'll be a few sleepless nights," he told liverpoolfc.com.

"For players like that, they were brilliant for Liverpool and they didn't get that chance to say goodbye.

"Even the crowd never got the chance to say goodbye to them, so I think that's why they are so keen to come back and play at Anfield, see everyone and old friends.

"(Xabi) Alonso as well was in a similar boat; I think Dirk Kuyt was, too.

"There are four or five ex-Liverpool players there who deserve a great send-off, and I'm sure they'll get it."

Carragher was speaking ahead of the Liverpool All Star Game, which kicks off later this month.
