faces an emotional return to this summer as he gets ready to line up for Bayern Munich at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a pre-season friendly. Spurs have announced that they will host the German giants in an exhibition match on August 10.

Kane left Spurs for Bayern in a £100million deal last year. The England captain has excelled in the Bundesliga and is on course to smash several goal-scoring records.

His return to north London will come 364 days after he completed his exit. Kane spent much of pre-season under Ange Postecoglou before leaving on the eve of the Premier League season.

The 30-year-old will line up alongside fellow former Spurs player Eric Dier in a match that will crown the winners of the Visit Malta Cup. The defender followed his close friend to Bavaria in the January transfer window having struggled to navigate his way into Postecoglou’s plans in the first half of the campaign.

Kane has been a revelation in Germany, scoring a remarkable 31 Bundesliga goals in only 26 top-flight appearances. He has struck 37 times across all competitions and has provided 12 assists, showcasing his all-round ability.

The Bayern star has eight Bundesliga matches remaining to break Robert Lewandowski’s record of 41 goals in a single German league season. His goals-per-game ratio of more than 1.1 suggests he is in course to beat the now-Barcelona forward.

Despite his individual efforts, Kane might not win a first domestic league trophy of his career. Bayern trail Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen by 10 points.

However, Bayern are into the quarter-finals of the Champions League and have drawn Spurs’ north London rivals Arsenal. Kane and Dier will be desperate to knock the Gunners out of the competition.

Kane, Spurs’ record scorer with 280 goals in 435 appearances for the club, admitted that it had initially been ‘strange’ watching his former side on television.

"I was there for so long and all my friends are still there, even the coaches and staff, so sometimes it's a little bit strange. But in football and life, when you go onto a new adventure, you're focused and attention is on that," he said before Christmas.

"I'm trying to find houses, learn the language, get to know my new team and staff at Bayern Munich. Your attention just gets taken away. Maybe at first it was strange to see them playing and me not being there.

“I have got to put all my attention on Bayern Munich and to make us as successful as possible. I am here, I am excited and it will always be a decision I never regret. I’m proud to have started the way I have.”
