This is the heir to the throne's second outing in 24 hours after he returned to public duties on Thursday for the first time since the Princess of Wales's cancer diagnosis announcement last month.

William visited Surplus to Supper - a surplus food redistribution charity in Sunbury-on-Thames and the youth club it serves.

His visit aimed to highlight the efforts to reduce food waste as a way to cut greenhouse gas emissions and feed people in need.

During the engagement, the Prince of Wales spoke about his commitment to helping his wife through her cancer diagnosis after he received heartfelt cards of support for her and King Charles.

When volunteer Rachel Candappa asked William about Kate, telling him to "take care of her", he replied: "I will."

The prince showed his appreciation when he received the get well soon cards, touching the volunteer's shoulder and telling her: "Thank you very much, that's kind."

The Princess of Wales is currently undergoing preventative chemotherapy for her illness.

In a video message on March 22, Kate asked for "time, space and privacy" as she and her family adjusted to her diagnosis.

She said the news came as a "huge shock" and added: "I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.

"It has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be okay."

Both King Charles and Princess Kate have been largely absent from the public stage since January due to health problems, leaving Queen Camilla, Princess Anne and other members of the Royal Family to juggle the workload.
