'I found out my new lover is related to me by blood'
Mia* started dating a new fella; it was all romance and fireworks until Gregg* dropped an unsettling bombshell.
For the first couple of months of Mia and Gregg's relationship, everything was great and the pair were floating on cloud nine.
"We get along so well," Mia told Reddit. "We have a lot in common... s*x is great, our conversations never get boring, you get the idea."
Having dated other people in the past, Mia could tell this time felt different, it felt right.
"I really [saw] a future with him," Mia said, knowing she had never felt this way about anyone before.
But when Gregg came over to Mia's place recently, he shared that he had something he wanted to tell her.
Feeling on edge, when Gregg came over, Mia wasn't sure what he was going to say, but what he shared knocked her sideways.
"He came over to my place... he said that he told his dad and his sister that he had met someone... [turns out] my dad and his dad are cousins," Mia revealed.
Acknowledging that she and Gregg share the same great-grandparents, she realised she had been sleeping with her second cousin.

"My dad and his dad aren't close at all," said Mia. "So the guy I'm dating and I haven't known each other since childhood or anything like that.
"We didn't even know about each other's existence until we started seeing each other."
Stunned, Mia asked Gregg what his side of the family thought about them dating.
"They didn't care... he didn't care either," said Mia, who was taken aback by the whole thing.
"I can't see myself leaving this guy," said Mia. "But I'd be lying if I told you that this situation doesn't freak me out in the slightest."
She asked the Reddit community: "Is it weird if we continue seeing each other, even though we're related?"
User_Pineapple9090 claimed: "I've specialised in genetics and I can tell you that genetically speaking the two of you are distant enough that any future children won't be at risk of rare genetic diseases.
"So if you're distant enough genetically for kids to be healthy then I think morally it's okay as well."
