Outlet shopping centres, sometimes known as factory outlets, are shops which sell items at discounted prices.

They used to sell old stock or old season goods but lots of outlet centres these days simply sell goods at a discounted price.

Outlet shopping centres in the UK include Cheshire Oaks, The Galleria, Bicester Village and London Designer Outlet in Wembley.

It can be hard to navigate certain shops, not knowing what is truly a good deal and what isn’t.

However, Debbie Gray, retail performance manager and F&B performance manager, Alex Boffey, have explained how everyone should be shopping at outlets to get the “best deals”.

How to get the best deals at shopping outlets

1. Top stock to shop

Debbie explained: “There is an art to pinpointing top-notch discounts. Each brand from Calvin Klein to Converse will have its own delivery schedule.

“Tuesday and Saturday are our heaviest drop days at London Designer Outlet. These are the best days to hunt down the fresh arrivals across fashion, homeware and beauty.

“Keep an eye out for mid-season sales and end-of-the-month payday weekend deals, which will be on top of the year-round savings of up to 70 percent of RRP.”

2. Not just old season stock

According to the expert, outlets are not filled to the brim with last season's unwanted trends, and this can be seen at London Designer Outlet.

It’s a mix of discounted previous season items as well as overstock from current full-price lines. Britons can also find specific “made for outlet” lines running across the shops.

3. Best time to shop

Debbie said: “Run, don’t walk. The best time to shop for no queues is first thing in the morning from 10am to 11am Monday to Saturday and 11am to 12pm Sunday.

“It’ll also quieten down at the end of the day, so 7pm to 8pm Monday to Saturday is a good time for a calmer browse.”

4. The ultimate steals

Debbie and Alex also said shoppers should be on the watch for extra discounts which run throughout the school holidays.

Alex noted: “If you’re looking for a more relaxed atmosphere, mid-week is best, as weekends and school holidays are always bustling.

“Many of our restaurants run family-friendly offers or kids eat free deals. Las Iguanas has two-for-one on alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails every day, all day.”

London Designer Outlet has plenty of restaurants to choose from too including Pizza Express, Nandos and Wagamamas.

If you’re up for something other than shopping, there is also a Cineworld where Britons can watch the latest films.
