World Car Free Day 2018 - Here’s when and where your car will be banned from

World Car Free Day 2018 will prohibit the use of cars across the globe on September 22nd.
The event is being held to help reduce both congestion and air pollution across the world.
For 24 hours every year cars will be banned in cities to try and move cities away from being a "car-dominated society."
London is the city in the UK taking part in the scheme which is also taking place in countries such as China and Columbia.
The aim in the Capital is to help create a safe space where children can play freely in the streets.
Fiona Sutherland, deputy director at London Play, hopes the initiative will hopefully also help “build friendships and stronger communities”.
She said: “Streets make up 80 per cent of London’s public space, a valuable community resource which has largely been given up for the sole use of cars, parked or moving.
“We hope Car Free Day will inspire more people to start regular play sessions on their streets.”
Nearly 50 streets in London will be closed over the 24-hour period.
“I’m delighted that Londoners will be able to enjoy more than 40 streets without traffic noise and exhaust fumes on World Car Free Day,” Heidi Alexander, Deputy Mayor for Transport said.
“Our support for London Play will transform neighbourhoods for families and offer a valuable opportunity to inspire long-term change, helping to build on our work to reduce reliance on cars and clean up the capital’s dangerously polluted air."
Waze's UK General Manager, Finlay Clark, said: “With 74 per cent of people in the country commuting to work by car, congestion and air pollution are major issues that need to be overcome.
“While public transport can and does help to reduce traffic, travelling by car is still the top choice for travel which is why we're working with organisations around the world like Crit-Air in France to help people avoid congested areas in major cities.”
