Charlotte Hawkins has shared a rare insight into her marriage with husband Mark Herbert and has revealed the difficulties they face during their hectic schedules. The 48-year-old married Mark in 2008 after five years together and are parents to their nine-year-old daughter Ella Rose.

Speaking to Prima Magazine for their May issue, the Good Morning Britain star said: "Mark and I had quite a whirlwind relationship. We moved in together a few months after meeting at a friend's wedding. I'm not always good at making big decisions, but we had such an obvious connection that it made sense.

"In the craziness of family life, it can be difficult to make time for each other - Ella Rose joined us for our Valentine's meal out this year!" The ITV star went on to reveal that the pair indulge in a passion of gardening together which allows them to spend time with one another.

She continued: "But we like working on projects in the garden together. Whether it's building raised beds to grow vegetables or chopping down a tree, sharing challenges brings us closer and we always have a laugh in the process."

Charlotte also told the publication that she's at her happiest when she's with her family, sitting around the dinner table, and enjoying quality time together as a three.

She divulged: "My highlight of the day is when Mark, Ella Rose and I are sat around the kitchen island in the evening - and I have a gin and tonic in hand.

"It's a lovely way to wind down, sharing what's been going on in the day.

"Mark works in the drinks industry, so he's amazing at mixing up a cocktail - his signature is a marmalade martini."

Charlotte began her broadcasting career with ITN in 1999 as a reporter and newsreader for LBC Radio.
