Cruise expert shares tip that can help tourists relax as soon as they board the ship
A popular travel personality has shared how tourists can make the most of their first few hours on board a cruise by preparing ahead of their journey.
A cruising expert has shared how tourists getting ready to take a cruise holiday are able to relax almost as soon as they get on board.
The TikTok user @joshcruises often posts short videos to the platform in which he showcases some of the unique features found on particular ships and offers tips to help passengers make the most of their upcoming trip.
In a popular video, Josh highlights that tourists going on a Royal Caribbean cruise are able to do their Muster Drill on their phone before they board the trip.
He advised: "OK, it's cruise day, we're here at Royal Caribbean's Allure of the Seas, and I have a cruise tip for you for Royal Caribbean.
"You can actually do your Muster Drill in the [smartphone] app before you arrive. You just need to check in at your Muster Station when you get on board. I did mine on the ride here, I just watched the safety videos so now, when I get on board, all I need to do is check in at my Muster Station."
A Muster Drill is a safety procedure that all cruise passengers must go through before the ship leaves the initial port.
In the past, these drills were often held in large public spaces of the ship, such as theatres, where passengers were asked to watch a video detailing what they should do in the event of an emergency.
However, since the Covid pandemic of 2020, many cruise companies are offering more convenient ways for passengers to do their Muster Drill.

Many cruise companies, including Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises and Carnival Cruises, now offer 'E Musters', which allow passengers to look at the safety videos on their phone.
These videos can be watched either on or off the ship, however tourists must make sure that they visit their Muster Station before the cruise sets off, so that they understand where they need to travel to in an emergency.
Some other companies require that guests watch the safety videos on the TV in their cabin, with the videos automatically beginning the first time it is turned on.
With more than 7,200 likes and 1,350 shares, many viewers were pleased to hear about the tip that can make cruise life more relaxed and straightforward, with some thanking Josh in the comments section.
One viewer wrote: "The muster station is so much easier than it used to be."
Another added: "Most cruise lines started this after the pandemic. So much better than the old way."
