Bingham 4-4 Jones

And we are all tied going into tomorrow as Jak Jones takes the final frame of the opening session.

What a treat this evening has been and both players deserve to be level, enjoying spells of dominance during the match.

In an eighth frame that ebbed and flowed, Stuart Bingham looked in a good spot to build up a big break, but sent the black into the jaw of the pocket after fluking a safety shot.

Without the black in play, Jones played off the pink and smart cueing got the Welshman over the line with a 72 break, his highest of the evening.

Bingham 4-3 Jones

Stuart Bingham will breathe a sigh of relief after taking the seventh frame, his first since taking a 3-0 lead.

A difficult final red needed careful management, but Bingham came off the black and got just about the necessary position to take it - and the frame with it.

That will calm some nerves for Ballrun.

Bingham 3-3 Jones

Three frames in a row and Jak Jones is taking control, he will not want tonight to end while Stuart Bingham is desperate for the end of the session.

What could have been if Bingham had potted that blue to the middle while 3-0.

The final red, black and yellow went as Jones continues to show immense composure on his first evening at a one-table Crucible setup.

Bingham made a mess of a safety to allow Jones back in, edging ahead before tackling the rest of the table and drawing level.

Bingham 3-2 Jones

Well, well, well. We have a game on our hands now as Jak Jones cuts his deficit again by winning his second frame of the evening.

Stuart Bingham will feel that he should have led 4-0, but instead has handed all the momentum to his opponent.

Jones' safety has been a key component of this comeback, giving him a base to build a 66 break.

Bingham returned to the table in an attempt to get a few snookers, but his efforts were in vein and the players take a quick break from proceedings after back-to-back wins for Jones.

Bingham 3-1 Jones

Jak Jones is on the board and he will be encouraged with a first win in the World Championship semi-finals.

A few very lengthy safety exchanges have taken the sting out of this contest, though Stuart Bingham looked set to take a fourth frame in a row.

The balls were there for Bingham, but missed a blue ball to the middle pocket and Jones returned to take a calm penultimate red.

He then slotted the final red into the blind pocket with ease, before taking a difficult brown after developing the green ball.

The Welshman did well to hold his nerves at a time when the pressure was high. Game on.

Bingham 3-0 Jones

A scrappy and difficult frame saw Stuart Bingham come out on top. Jak Jones will be desperate to get on the board here soon.

The Welshman missed two reds to the middle pocket to allow his opponent back in, then struggled to escape from a snooker before Bingham cleared up.

Bingham 2-0 Jones

Stuart Bingham has adapted better to the one-table setup than Jak Jones, storming into a 2-0 lead.

He is looking very comfortable, wracking up a 94 break with Jak Jones unable to prevent any damage from his chair.

Bingham 1-0 Jones

Stuart Bingham has taken the first frame, with a smart half-century to pick up where he left off against Ronnie O'Sullivan.

A quick knock of 76 was enough, having missed on the pink as he went in search of a century to kickstart proceedings tonight.

Tonight's action

Our second semi-final gets underway tonight, as two qualifiers meet in Stuart Bingham and Jak Jones.

This was expected to be the blockbuster meeting between Ronnie O'Sullivan and Judd Trump, but shocks in the previous round saw the heavy favourites both dumped out.

Welshman Jones will be taking part in his first one-table setup at the Crucible, a familiar setting for 2015 champion Bingham.

Ronnie O'Sullivan hits back in referee row

Ronnie O'Sullivan has dismissed the idea that he is a bully after calling out the referee in his quarter-final defeat to Stuart Bingham.

He clashed with official Desislava Bozhilova twice, once telling her to "chill" after disagreeing with an earlier spotting of the black ball.

O'Sullivan has received significant backlash on social media but .

“I won’t be commenting on players or referees,” stressed O’Sullivan. “It’s not worth it. I’ll keep silent on that sort of stuff. I won’t comment on players and I won’t comment on referees. I just leave it as it is. My life’s too good and I don’t need the hassle."

Ronnie O'Sullivan retirement stance

With Ronnie O'Sullivan crashing out of the World Championship last night to Stuart Bingham, will he call it a day on his glittering snooker career?

Retirement seems very unlikely, having come into the tournament claiming that .

"I'm in that situation at the moment where I've just got to get myself in a frame of mind for maybe the next however long,” O’Sullivan said at the beginning of the tournament.

“I've given myself a year to the end of next year's World Championship to work with Steve (Peters - psychologist) and hope, you know, to get back to where I feel it's acceptable.

"I could do another year like this, I'll commit to that playing how I've been playing and the struggles and what we all want to call it - the yips or the snatches, whatever you want to call it."

Kyren Wilson told off for 147 attempt

Kyren Wilson revealed that he was told off by his brother for attempting the tournament's first 147 break.

In the final frame of the session, Wilson built up a break of 88 and was firmly set on attempting a maximum, but came up just short when attempting a late red.

Wilson admitted that it would have been "special" to make a 147 in front of his children, who missed his first and only Crucible maximum, but his brother was far from happy.

"It was a good session, very open and attacking," Wilson told the BBC. "There were lots of good breaks. You want to perform for the crowd and that's why I tried for a cheeky 147.

"It would have been so special to make it in front of my boys. My brother [Taylor] told me off (for not concentrating on winning the frame)."

Wilson 4-4 Gilbert

The end of the session ends as a draw as Kyren Wilson wins the final frame to tie 4-4 with David Gilbert.

After 11 reds and 11 blacks, Wilson was on for the tournament's first 147 break and went for the maximum, but was unable to get perfect position on the red and missed.

"What a wally" he shouted to the crowd, but will be relieved to have drawn level before returning tomorrow morning.

Wilson 3-4 Gilbert

David Gilbert is back out in front after taking the seventh frame of the contest, with Kyren Wilson firmly sat in his seat.

A 74 break was enough to go with runs of 104 and 91 earlier in the day.

Wilson 3-3 Gilbert

After Gilbert undercuts one in from the corner, Wilson is back in with a shot and this time the composure is back.

Momentum restarts, the table is quickly cleared and a delicate shot from the distance down the left floats to the intended target, and prompts a large round of applause.

A run of 67 levels the match again.

Wilson 2-3 Gilbert

And the turnaround is emerging.

Gilbert clipped a stray ball with the cue, calling foul on himself. Yet the opportunity is squandered as Wilson can only hit the knuckle sending one long to the green.

Nerves are very much in the air. Palpable.

Wilson 2-2 Gilbert

Now we have a match emerging.

Gilbert records his seventh ton of the competition - now three more than anyone else.

Players depart for the mid session, and Wilson will be left ruing mistakes.

After catching a stray red too thin, the door was opened for his opponent to happily walk straight through.

Wilson 2-1 Gilbert

Early control now under threat as Wilson allows his opponent a glimmer of hope.

Wilson clears the table. The upcoming frame is likely to set the tone now.

Wilson 1-0 Gilbert

Kyren Wilson has started the far better of the two players, with David Gilbert so far struggling to settle into this semi-final.

Wilson, remarkably the only non-qualifier remaining, deservedly takes the first frame.

Kyren Wilson 0-0 David Gilbert

We're underway in the first of the World Snooker Championship semi-finals.

Stay tuned as we take you through the afternoon and evening sessions, starting with Kyren Wilson vs David Gilbert.
