Corrie: Daniel Osbourne meeting up with his ex Nicky filmed by Max Turner

Coronation Street's Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) may have inadvertently made things worse for himself in the latest instalment of the ITV soap as he continued to be suspected of being involved in the disappearance of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton). Determined to clear his name he called on former romantic interest and one time sex worker Nicky Wheatley (Kimberly Hart-Simpson).

Since she now works as an outreach worker for sex workers and there are rumours Lauren had taken her O-Vids work to the next level and was working as an escort he thinks that one of the women she works with might have seen her and be able to shed some light on the teen's disappearance.

Unfortunately, he was followed by both Max Turner (Paddy Beaver) and Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll). Max got extremely excited at the sight of Nicky and told Bobby that he recognised her as a sex worker.

He took pictures of the meeting and that was enough to get Daniel hauled back in to the police station for more questions. His problems got worse when Nicky called at the flat to let him know she’d made enquiries but found nothing.

His girlfriend Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) was not amused by this latest development even though Nicky assured her there’s nothing more to it than trying to find Lauren.

Viewers were not amused by Max's "sleuthing" and took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their annoyance.

@itzzzo_ raged: "Centring a storyline around an unestablished, rude, boring, [redacted] like Lauren and putting one of the show’s most loved characters in the firing line is bad enough but to throw in Creepy Bobby and Mad Max as wannabe sleuths?! Nice going #Corrie."

@bosdovja92 referenced the fact that Max has been convicted of racism pointing out: "Oh the transformation in our Max! The only former far-right terrorist in the northwest to use terms like ‘sex worker’ and ‘exploiting vulnerable women.’ #corrie."

@WhoPotterVian commented "'In tonight's instalment of Max The Creepy Former Racist, Max is joined by a man who thought he was the researcher for Making A Murderer to stalk his old school teacher!' #Corrie."
@sarahinspalding pondered: "I wonder if Max and Bobby will get together with the rest of the Scooby Doo gang to solve this mystery. Maybe the A-team could help. If it wasn’t for those pesky kids. I love it when a plan comes together. Etc. #Corrie."

@Sal_Salvatore_p had enough writing: "#Corrie this Max obsession is getting tedious, but the people close to Daniel turning against him based on spurious assumptions is a sad reality of today's very fickle unloyal society. Add to this a c**p police force, we're all basically screwed! Happy soap night all."

Elsewhere in the episode Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) admitted she was enjoying getting close to Joel Deering (Calum Lil). However, he was horrified to discover how much abuse she was getting online over defending Roy Cropper (David Nielson) and worried for her safety.

Young Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) made a new friend Anwen. After talking to step-mum Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) about her and the situation with Roy he resolved to start trying her reality coding. However, when she told him it didn't work like that he took it badly.

And a fuming Alya Nazir (Sair Kahn) confronted Adam Barlow (Sam Robinson) and told him he could stick his job. However, it appeared that there might be some romantic friction between the pair.

Coronation Street is on ITV Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm.
