Young Sheldon season 6 set for lengthy hiatus as next episode delayed from CBS time slot
Fans of Young Sheldon will be forced to wait two weeks for the hit period sitcom to return to CBS.
Young Sheldon: Trailer for season five finale
Following last week's emotional episode of CBS’s hit sitcom Young Sheldon, fans will be disappointed to learn that there is no new instalment on the network next week. Fans will still get their Young Sheldon fix as the network will be airing repeats to kick off the month of April.
Since it made a comeback from its mandatory winter break, Young Sheldon fans have had to endure several programming disruptions.
The show is now set to face another lengthy hiatus following last week's instalment called A Stolen Truck and Going on the Lam.
Season six of Young Sheldon will be returning to its usual evening CBS time slot on April 13, with its 17th episode.
That means fans will have a two-week wait to discover what happens next to Missy after she ran away from home.
Unfortunately, the network has not yet given a reason for the popular family sitcom facing a lengthy delay.
Although there is no new instalment next week fans will be venturing back into repeats to kick off the month of April.
If there is any silver lining, it’s the fact that fans are nearing the end of the season, which means fans can hopefully expect fewer breaks in the action as they lead up to the season finale.
However, after a fortnight off-air, season six of Young Sheldon will resume with episode 17, titled A German Folk Song and an Actual Adult.
As of yet, the plot for episode 17 has been kept under wraps by the network but fans can expect to see the usual Cooper family shenanigans.
Following last week's episode, it's likely the next episode will show Missy (Raegan Revold) facing the repressions after she ran away with Paige (Mckenna Grace).
It's also possible that fans will see how George (Lance Barber) and Mary (Zoe Perry) Cooper will overcome their recent marital disputes.
Despite the impending delay, fans can look forward to season seven of Young Sheldon, which will most likely air in the 2023-2024 broadcast season.
However, there have been speculations that season seven could bring an end to the Big Bang Theory spin-off.
Young Sheldon’s executive producer Steve Holland told TVLine: “We’ve certainly started to talk about it,” when it came to the sitcom possibly coming to an end.
Holland added: “When you’re in the middle of a season, it’s such a grind that we haven’t had too many in-depth conversations.”
“But now, as we’re getting to the end [of Season 6], we’ve started to talk about it more.” Holland.”

It's not the first time Young Shelson has had a break from its usual CBS time slot.
The sitcom was delayed earlier this year after CBS continued its LIVE coverage of the ever-present NCAA Men’s College Basketball tournament.
The sports tournament took up Young Sheldon’s usual CBS Thursday evening time slot, forcing fans to wait for the sitcom’s storyline to continue.
CBS had been serving as the official cable TV home for this year's NCAA tournament, which is set to conclude today on April 1.
Young Sheldon season 6 continues April 13 on CBS.
