will likely be "forced to stay in a hotel" when he comes over to the UK next month, after his previous request to stay at Windsor Castle was rejected.

Harry will be in the UK for the Invictus Games 10th anniversary commemorative service on May 8 at St Paul's Cathedral, although will not be joining him.

No other senior royals are expected to be attending the service, but King Charles may be able to see his son if he can make time in his busy schedule.

While he is in the UK it is thought the Duke of Sussex will be staying in a hotel, as he has done on previous occasions due to him no longer having a residence in this country.

When Harry and Meghan first married they were given Frogmore Cottage by the late Queen Elizabeth as a wedding present, however following the publication of Spare in 2023 they were asked to vacate the property.

The Sussexes have lived in Montecito, California since 2020, but still had the cottage to use as a UK base when they were travelling up until last year.

In September 2023 Harry requested to stay at Windsor Castle while he was in Britain for charity visit, but this was denied as the Palace claimed it was too short notice.

When the Duke flew to London for one night in February to see his father after learning of his cancer diagnosis he stayed in a hotel in the capital, and will likely do the same again this time, according to reports.

Meghan has not been back to the UK since the late Queen's funeral in September 2022, and they have only brought their children over once since their move to the US.

Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet joined their parents in the UK for the Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June of that year, with Lilibet also marking her first birthday at Frogmore Cottage.

It was the first and only time that Lilibet got to meet her great-grandmother, with King Charles still yet to be reunited with his youngest grandchildren since.

Harry is not expected to be staying in the UK long this time as he and Meghan have plans to visit Nigeria later in May, having been invited by the Chief of Defence staff.

Meghan has previously revealed in her podcast Archetypes that she has Nigerian ancestry and as such is keen to visit the country herself.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told the Daily Mail about the trip: "It's a very good face saver with Meghan not coming to Britain and shows a bit of PR nous."
