There is nothing more satisfying than dunking a chocolate biscuit into a cup of tea, and it turns out you make your own in only 30 minutes.

Jamie Oliver’s “gorgeous biscuit recipe” is so simple to make that they are perfect to make with children or as a quick treat for yourself according to the chef.

He said: “This is a great recipe to make with kids as a treat, as it’s very simple and good fun putting the top circle over the chocolate and squashing the edges gently together to stop the chocolate from escaping when it cooks.

“This is quite a dry mixture, but don’t worry, they are meant to look a bit cracked and rustic, so you can’t really go wrong!”

These “rustic gooey” chocolate biscuits only take around 10 minutes to prepare before they set in the fridge and then only take 10 minutes in the oven to bake.

Instructions

Place the butter and sugar in a mixing bowl and cream until you have a fluffy pale yellow mixture. Beat the egg yolks into the mixture then add the flour and cocoa powder to make a dough.

Scatter some flour onto a kitchen countertop and turn out the mixture onto the counter to knead it. Once done, place the mixture in the fridge to set for a little while.

When the mixture has set, preheat the oven to 190C or Gas Mark 5 and then grease a large baking sheet.

Lightly flour a kitchen counter once again and roll out about a third of the dough thinly, then cut out 30 circles with a small biscuit cutter,

Spread the 30 small pieces of dough out onto the prepared baking sheet and then place a square of chocolate in the middle of each. Make sure to use up all the chocolate.

Then roll out the rest of the dough, cut out an additional 30 circles with a larger biscuit cutter and then top off the chocolate. Make sure to press gently all around the dough to seal the edges and keep all the chocolate in.

Cook the biscuits in the preheated oven for 10 minutes, and once you take the biscuits out of the oven your delicious chocolate biscuits as ready to eat either hot or cold.
