'I'm a cruise expert - there are three items passengers can get completely free'
From extra towels to a whole mattress topper, there are many things that tourists can get on a cruise ship without paying a penny.
A travel personality has shared a number of items that tourists can request free of charge during their next cruise holiday.
Whilst cruising typically offers tourists a wide range of luxuries as they travel from port to port, Jayson Judson noted that not all passengers are taking full advantage of what most cruise lines offer.
In a recent video on his TikTok page, Jayson suggested that tourists should see how comfortable their bed is, stating that they can ask for mattress toppers and extra pillows.
He explained: "Make sure to check your bed's comfort level as soon as you get into your cabin because bed toppers can go quickly.
"While checking your bed, check the pillows. If you can't live with them, ask [your cabin steward] for new ones."
In order to get a good night's rest, Jayson suggested tourists should try out their beds and speak to their cabin steward as soon as possible.
This is because cruise ships typically carry a limited quantity of spare pillows and mattress toppers, which can get used up relatively quickly.
Similarly, tourists who act quickly can also ask for luxuries such as a kettle, which can help them to get hot drinks in the morning without needing to travel up to the buffet.

Later in the video, Jayson recommended that tourists who like to keep active ask for extra towels and, if they are not already provided, bathrobes.
He added: "Also ask for extra towels. This is on my list [for tourists who are] active with excursions and like to hit the gym.
"Tourists can request bathrobes too. We find that, most of the time, they're already in our cabin and, if not, you can request some."
With nearly 3,600 likes, many tourists getting ready to go on a cruise were thankful for the information and left their thoughts in the comments section.
One viewer wrote: "I had no idea you could ask for a bed topper. The bed was so uncomfortable. Thank you for the info."
Another suggested: "I bring a fold-flat cooler - I always ask them to fill it with ice."
