Samson Lee is a World Cup injury doubt for Wales

Lee is set to undergo Achilles surgery next week which will rule him out for six months – a timeline which stretches into September when the World Cup starts.

Aaron Jarvis will take his place against Italy on Saturday with Rob Evans deputising for Gethin Jenkins who has a hamstring strain.

Wales coach Warren Gatland is refusing to go “begging on bended knee” to Adam Jones to come out of Test retirement but is leaving a return avenue open if the Blues prop reverses his decision.
