Jessica Ennis-Hill ruled out of indoor season through injury ahead of Rio Olympics
BRITISH Olympic champion Jessica Ennis-Hill has been forced to sit out the indoor season due to an Achilles issue.
Jessica Ennis-Hill won the gold at 2010 World Indoor Championships
The Heptathlon star made the decision to withdraw from competing with a view to being fully fit for the summer’s Olympic Games in Rio.
Ennis-Hill will challenge at her final Olympics this year and is determined to bring home gold after a sublime effort at the London 2012 Games.
However, the nature of the injury to her Achilles may come as some concern due to the fact Ennis-Hill missed the World Championships in 2013 for the same reason.
After being absent for the 2014 season too while having a child, consistent athletics hasn’t been something Ennis-Hill has been able to rely on heading nearer to August.
The indoor season starts in Glasgow on February 20, but the 30-year-old is trying not to get too disheartened by her injury setback.
"My priority has always been Rio and I don't want to take any risks in the short term," said Ennis-Hill.
"I am understandably frustrated but know this is the right approach."
