Hockey: Beeston can sting, says Graham Griffiths
BEESTON manager Graham Griffiths believes English clubs can break the Dutch-German domination in Europe this season.
The Bees beat Cardiff & Met 3-1 while Surbiton saw off the Austrians of SV Arminen 5-0 in their opening matches of the Euro League in Barcelona at the weekend. That was enough to put them into the KO last-16 phase, albeit in second place in their pool. However, with Reading still to play their first round in Lille in two weeks, Griffiths said: “I don’t care who wins it, as long as one of the English clubs does.
“I do fancy one of us this time round.”
