Wilson 10-6 O’Connor

Joe O’Connor holds his nerve to win the 16th frame after racking up a break of 102. It’s his first century of the match.

O’Connor has given himself a fighting chance of turning the match around tomorrow, with Kyren Wilson leading 10-6 overnight. The encounter will conclude tomorrow afternoon, with the action getting underway at 1pm.

Wilson 10-5 O'Connor

Kyren Wilson makes a huge break of 85 to secure the penultimate frame of the evening. O'Connor needs the final one to have any chance tomorrow.

O’Sullivan 10-6 Day

Ryan Day takes the final frame of the evening after a break of 75 and will feel he’s escaped here after drawing the session 4-4.

Ronnie O’Sullivan turned it on at times tonight but has allowed his Welsh opponent back into the match. The contest will continue tomorrow at 1pm.

Wilson 9-5 O’Connor

Joe O’Connor grinds out a fifth frame of the match as he attempts to come back into this encounter. But it may be too little too late as he’s still four frames behind Kyren Wilson.

O’Sullivan 10-5 Day

Ryan Day puts together a break of 72 to pull a frame back. He’s struggled tonight and probably has too much to do to turn the match around from here. But he’ll be pleased with his potting in that frame.

O’Sullivan 10-4 Day

And we quickly swing back to table two where Ronnie O’Sullivan is racing through the frames. He’s got another one on the board following a delicious break of 96.

The Rocket will take some beating at this tournament as he searches for a record eighth title at the age of 48.

Wilson 9-4 O’Connor

Kyren Wilson wins the 13th frame of the match with a break of 58. He’s moving clear of his opponent now and appears to have one foot in the quarter-finals.

O’Sullivan 9-4 Day

Ronnie O’Sullivan is on it tonight and he secures his ninth frame following a safety battle early on. The Rocket produces a break of 56 and he’s only four frames away from victory.

Wilson 8-4 O’Connor

We’re heading for the mid-session break on table one and Joe O’Connor has just won his fourth frame of the match after Kyren Wilson had clinched his eighth. Wilson would have been out of sight if he had won that one.

O'Sullivan 8-4 Day

Ronnie O'Sullivan adds another frame to the scoreboard as he racks up an 89 break following a mistake from Ryan Day. The Englishman is dominating his opponent at the Crucible and doesn't look like losing.

O'Sullivan 7-4 Day

Ronnie O'Sullivan is finally off the mark in the evening session and moves three frames ahead once again at 7-4. Day will be desperate to stay in this match as the evening goes on.

Wilson 7-3 O’Connor

Kyren Wilson restores his four-frame advantage to move 7-3 ahead. And he looks to be in control of this match.

Wilson 6-3 O’Connor

The first frame on table one was a lengthy one as both players racked up decent breaks.

It took the players more than 18 minutes to pot the final brown, and it’s Joe O’Connor who comes out on top to reduce Kyren Wilson's lead to 6-3.

O’Sullivan 6-4 Day

Some rapid snooker at the Crucible as both players come out firing on table two. O’Sullivan has been guilty of a few casual shots in the first two frames and Ryan Day will be delighted to have reduced his deficit to two frames. The Rocket's lead has been cut to 6-4.

Evening session underway

The evening session is underway at the Crucible as Ronnie O’Sullivan has resumed his second round clash with Ryan Day. The Rocket leads 5-3 and could turn it on this evening.

On table one, Kyren Wilson and Joe O’Connor are back in action, with the former leading 6-2.

Allen turns the tide

Meanwhile, Mark Allen has turned the tide in his second round clash with John Higgins. Allen won the final three frames of the day to move 9-7 ahead. And those two will also be back in action tomorrow evening.

Bingham ends the day two frames up

The afternoon session has come to an end at the Crucible and Stuart Bingham has opened up a two-frame lead over Jack Lisowski.

There was drama in the final frame of the day as Lisowski took on a few risky shots. And Bingham took advantage to move 9-7 ahead. The final session will get underway tomorrow evening at 7pm.

Lisowski 7-7 Bingham

Jack Lisowski and Stuart Bingham are still all square on table two but they both have another frame on the board. It’s seven apiece, with the balls spread out in the 15th frame.

Allen 6-7 Higgins

John Higgins and Mark Allen have exchanged frames once again, with the latter winning the 13th frame of the match. Can either player pull away from the other or will this match stay close right until the end?

Lisowski draws level

Jack Lisowski wins the 12th frame of the match and draws level at 6-6.

Stuart Bingham dominated yesterday and could have even gone 6-2 up in the final frame of the first session. But it's Lisowski who is getting the upper hand this afternoon and he's taking the match to his opponent.

Allen 5-6 Higgins

John Higgins has just clinched the 11th frame in his second round match against Mark Allen to move 6-5 ahead.

Both players look up for this second session and they’re both playing some good snooker. This could be a long old match full of plenty of twists and turns along the way.

Lisowski 5-6 Bingham

The second session between 2015 world champion Stuart Bingham and Jack Lisowski is also back underway.

Bingham held a 5-3 lead overnight, but Lisowski has taken two of the first three frames this afternoon. Bingham’s lead has therefore been cut to one frame at 6-5.

Higgins 5-4 Allen

Proceedings back underway at the Crucible and it's a successful start for Higgins. He edges back in front.

Maguire praises himself after famous win against old foe

Stephen Maguire edged out an entertaining 13-9 clash against old foe Shaun Murphy, with the Scot admitting he's 'enjoying' his World Championship showing so far.

He said: "That’s a good win. Two wins at the qualifiers and two good wins here. Some good results happening.

"5-3 up in the first session, you’re praying for 5-3 in the second session and then it’s yours to throw away.

"It’s not been a great 15 year, let’s be honest. Each season is getting faster and faster, it’s disappearing quick now. Results like this and quarter-final of the Worlds again, I have to pat myself on the back and enjoy it."

O'Sullivan 5-3 Day

Well that was fun. Some stellar moments for Ronnie and some areas he'll have to improve on.

Few would've predicted Day to get three frames on the board after O'Sullivan opened the match up with a century break, but the world No.18 has proved his worth so far.

It's finely poised heading into tonight's session, with O'Sullivan 5-3 in front.

O'Sullivan 4-3 Day

Day just won't let O'Sullivan get away from him. The Welshman reduces the deficit once again, this time with a century break. Game on.

Or not... Maguire through to the quarter-finals

Despite the late surge from Murphy, Maguire is home safe and - just about - dry.

He'll take on David Gilbert in the next round.

Maguire 13-9 Murphy

Maguire 12-9 Murphy

Surely not? Murphy moves to within three of Maguire, who still needs just one frame to progress into the last eight.

Maguire has turned around a 12-7 deficit in the past. He's on the way to doing just that again.

O'Sullivan 4-2 Day

Normal service resumed. O'Sullivan retains his two-frame advantage heading into the final section of the morning session.

It's been a morning of horrific errors for Day, who is making life easy for the seven-time champion.

O'Sullivan 3-2 Day

That's more like it. Just when Day looks as if he might be about to snatch the fifth frame, O'Sullivan fights back with a stunning clearance of 83. Ronnie is back in the lead.

O'Sullivan 2-2 Day

Okay, so who wrote Ryan Day off at 2-0 down?

Well, not the Welshman himself, that's for sure. Day has fought back in style to level the match at 2-2.

A sloppy final two frames before the interval from O'Sullivan opened the door for Day.

Maguire 12-7 Murphy

To me, to you. That's how the morning has started between Maguire and Murphy, with the pair alternating between winning frames.

What it means though is Maguire is now on the brink of a magical last-16 victory. 12-7 he leads.

O'Sullivan 2-1 Day

Uh oh, that wasn't meant to happen. A jitter in the Ronnie machine, sees Day claw a frame back.

Unforced mistakes from Day weren't capitalised on by O'Sullivan, who made a whole host of errors himself.

Day will take confidence from that. He's on the board.

Elsewhere in Maguire vs Murphy

It was just the start Maguire wanted, with the Scot closing in on a sensational round two win.

He now leads Murphy 11-6 after winning the first frame.

O'Sullivan 2-0 Day

All the talk about exhibition tours, but O'Sullivan is making a mockery of things on the World Championship stage.

It's been a stupendous start to his last-16 tie against Day.

No century break this time, but Ronnie is rampant.

O'Sullivan 1-0 Day

Rocket by name, Rocket by nature. Less than 10 minutes in and O'Sullivan already has a frame on the board.

Day missed out on a simple red during his first visit to the table, with O'Sullivan cleaning up from there.

A century break for O'Sullivan. He's already in the mood.

Underway in Sheffield on Day Nine of the World Championship

The action has started at the Crucible. Will O'Sullivan face a tougher test today compared to his round-one win against Jackson Page?

The Rocket ran out an eventual 10-1 winner. Day will be keen to apply more pressure.

On the other table, it's Stephen Maguire vs Shaun Murphy. Maguire is just three frames away from victory.

Trump turned off by breakaway tour suggestions

While the World Championship begins to take shape, Judd Trump has hit back at suggestions there should be a breakaway snooker tour.

The 34-year-old said: "A few people tried to contact me and I couldn't be bothered. It was a few months ago. These people came to my brother and he said, 'Do you want to listen?' and I was like, 'No, just [tell them to] go away'.

"I'm very happy where I am. I need something with history, heritage; I need something to play for.

"I wouldn't get out of bed for an exhibition kind of series. I want the biggest challenges. I look forward to playing in more different places and hopefully World Snooker can take us to new territories."
