Female darts star who snubbed World Championship says 'ladies not good enough to play men'
Beau Greaves rejected the chance to compete at the PDC World Championships last year, and she has now shed a light on her decision.
Darts star Beau Greaves has revealed that she does not believe that female players ‘are good enough’ to compete against the men. The 20-year-old decided to compete in the WDF Women’s World Championship last year rather than heading to Alexandra Palace, and she managed to retain her crown at Lakeside.

Greaves has asserted herself as one of the best female players to ever take to the stage over the past few years, having declined an offer to play in the PDC World Darts Championship in favour of pushing for back-to-back championships.
The Doncaster-born star made a mockery of her competition at Lakeside, whitewashing Lorraine Hyde, Paula Murphy and Rhian O’Sullivan en route to the final. Greaves then secured a 4-1 win over Aileen de Graaf to retain her crown, prompting conversations about how she would fare up against male competitors this year.
Greaves made her PDC debut in 2022 but was unable to secure a win at the competition, being beaten by William O’Connor in the first round. Asked whether she is tempted to return to Ally Pally, Greaves told Darts News: “I don't know. It's a hard one.
“I love playing ladies darts and I'm big on ladies darts. I don't think the ladies are good enough to play the men, I've said it before. I don't really mind but it's one of them. It's just weighing up your options and seeing what's best.
"I'm going to do a bit of the Development Tour this year. So there's a lot of darts on offer, other than just getting a Tour Card. I love the WDF but some of the tournaments are a little bit sparse this year. But Lakeside is what we all play towards so much as what the PDC do for the Ladies which is brilliant, there's pros and cons."
With Luke Littler paving the way for young players to compete on the biggest of stages, Greaves could be tempted to attempt to make it second time lucky at Alexandra Palace this year. The world champion is hoping to enjoy a busy 2024, and she has already vowed to return to the Dutch Open at the end of the season.
After beating De Graaf in the final, Greaves revealed that it was one of her favourite tournaments and how she intends to return regardless of how the year pans out. She explained: “I feel absolutely great! I didn't play amazing in the final, but I was happy just to take my chances and hit the big scores when needed. I think it's one of the best tournaments on the tour. It is absolutely brilliant and I'm so excited to come back next year."
