Rangers escape chants penalty
RANGERS have escaped any punishment for sectarian singing and chanting by their fans in Inverness because of a cop out by the local police.
The Scottish Premier League last night revealed the lack of action by the Northern Constabulary in their probe into the scenes of shame at the Caledonian Stadium on the opening day of the league season on August 4.
The football chiefs claimed that the special stewards actually provided by Rangers had identified people engaged in “unacceptable conduct”.
But the SPL report declared: “The police were unable to identify any specific individuals taking part in unacceptable conduct and there were no arrest made for any offences during the match.”
Rangers have been warned that any future misconduct by their fans will be referred to the SPL Commission who have the power to impose sanctions against the Ibrox club.
The SPL fully recongised the intense efforts Rangers have been making to rid the club of their unwanted minority.
Indeed, the Ibrox club are set to ban for life those offending bigots at Inverness who were indentified by their own stewards.
On top of that, those shamed bigots will have no access to buy tickets for Rangers away matches.
