Leeds United transfer news: Whites sign Patrick Bamford as Middlesbrough sell up
LEEDS UNITED have signed Patrick Bamford on a four-year deal.
The striker arrives from Middlesbrough for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £7m.
In a statement, the Elland Road club said: “Leeds United are delighted to announce the signing of striker Patrick Bamford for an undisclosed fee.
“Bamford will wear the number nine shirt during his time at Elland Road and could make his Leeds United debut in Sunday’s Sky Bet Championship opener with Stoke City.”
Bamford’s arrival has come at a critical time for manager Marcelo Bielsa, who has struggled to bring in fresh faces this summer.
The club missed out on a deal to sign Matej Vydra from Derby yesterday.

Bamford, 24, started his career at Nottingham Forest and has played for eight clubs since leaving for Chelsea in 2012.
The striker was named the Championship Player of the Year in 2014/15 after helping the club reach the playoffs.
He completed a permanent move to Boro last summer and scored 13 goals at the Riverside - nine of which came in a one-month flurry this spring.
The former England U21 international has been given the No 9 shirt at Leeds, which was worn by loan forward Pierre-Michel Lasogga last term.
Leeds host Stoke at Elland Road on Sunday (4.30pm) in their first fixture of the Championship campaign.
