Man Utd transfer news: Manchester United are open to selling Anthony Martial this summer

United raised eyebrows in the summer of 2015 when they agreed to pay Monaco a fee which could rise to up to £58m for Martial.

But he soon silenced his doubters and showed promise that he would realise the potential then-manager Louis van Gaal saw in him.

Martial’s development has stalled under Jose Mourinho though, particularly this season, and last week he missed out on a place in France’s World Cup squad.

The latest reports indicate Manchester United have now made a decision over the winger as they plan for the 2018/19 campaign.

According to the Daily Mail, United are prepared to listen to offers that come in for Martial this summer.

However, they would prefer not to lose him to a domestic rival for fear of him coming back to haunt them.

Chelsea are keen on Martial as they prepare for a potential off-season of overhaul at Stamford Bridge.

And United boss Jose Mourinho is thought to be keen on a reunion with Chelsea winger Willian at Old Trafford.

But it seems a part-exchange deal is unlikely unless United chiefs relent on being eager to sell Martial overseas.

The Daily Mail indicate United’s Premier League rivals Tottenham are also interested in getting Martial on-board.

While clubs in Italy are said to have been sounded out, although it is unclear whether that has been done by the club or the Frenchman’s agents.

Juventus are believed to be able to match the £65,000-a-week wages Martial receives at United.

However, he would have to take a substantial pay cut in order to join Napoli, who are also keeping tabs on him.

Martial is under contract at United for another year, with an option to extend his stay in Manchester for another 12 months included in the terms of his deal.
