Rangers boss Graeme Murty admits he could quit the club
The rookie manager has been in the firing line since last week’s Scottish Cup semi-final thrashing by Celtic at Hampden, where there were shows of dissent from several of his players.
A heated dressing room exchange with captain Lee Wallace and striker Kenny Miller led to the pair being suspended by the club pending an investigation.
Some fans want Murty axed before his contract expires at the end of the season, while former Celtic striker Chris Sutton urged the 43-year-old, above, to quit for his own sake.
Murty, however, believes he’s still the right person to steer Rangers in their last five games as they bid to finish second.
He said: “I’ve been asked to take charge of this fantastic football club until the end of the season. That has not changed.
“If I thought it would become detrimental to the team to stay then we’d have a different conversation. At the moment I still feel I have a lot to offer.
“I was brought in with the remit to stabilise and start the move forward, and leave the team in a better place than when I inherited it in. I still believe I can do that.”
Murty hasn’t spoken to chairman Dave King, below, but he is encouraged by the support given to him by the Rangers directors.
“I have had conversations with a few of them,” he added.
“I’ve been for a coffee, a sit down and a chat. I also have the director of football in the office next door to me.

Celtic are on course to win the domestic treble this season
“They’re asking me if I’m OK, asking what I need, and it’s greatly appreciated. It has been a difficult week.”
Murty, who refused to discuss his Hampden row with Wallace and Miller, said he did not know if he could return to his old role as under-20s coach.
Meanwhile, Rangers have signed a three-year kit deal with Hummel. The Danish company will take over from Puma next season.
