Arsene Wenger press conference

The Arsenal manager has spoken with the press ahead of tomorrow’s clash with AC Milan.

He’s provided injury updates on Hector Bellerin, Alexandre Lacazette and Nacho Monreal, and admits that none of them will feature in the Europa League tie at the San Siro.

“Hector Bellerin is injured. He has an inflammation of his left knee. He had a scan yesterday which showed inflammation.

“He tried but couldn’t absorb the training session so we left him at home. It doesn’t look a long-term problem.

“Alexandre Lacazette is not ready. We had to leave Nacho Monreal behind as well because he’s not ready. He started a little session today but he’s not ready.”

Predicted XI…

Arsene Wenger faces a crucial European clash with AC Milan this week which could determine his future at Arsenal.

The Frenchman knows that the Europa League offers the Gunners their most realistic chance of qualifying for the Champions League this season.

However Arsenal must topple the Serie A giants in the San Siro with a striker crisis on their hands.

Alexandre Lacazette remains injured and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is ineligible for the clash.

The departures of Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez have lightened the Gunners' attacking forces – but will Danny Welbeck be called upon to make the difference?

An insider has told ESPN that the players are now frustrated and they want serious action.

They have discussed possible replacement bosses between themselves with Thierry Henry, Carlo Ancelotti and Rafa Benitez all mooted.

Members within the squad are also said to be unhappy that Alexis Sanchez has joined Manchester United - because they believe he shouldn’t have been sold to a rival.

An ESPN source said: "A lot of the players don't want Wenger. They are not happy with his tactics and the training.

"The players don't want any particular manager to come in - some speak about Thierry Henry, Carlo Ancelotti and even Rafa Benitez - but they are really frustrated.

"A lot of them are also unhappy about the sale of Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United. Alexis could be difficult at times, but the players think it sent the wrong message to sell him to a rival."

Milan travel update

Arsenal fans face more frustration as they follow their team this week.

“A strike has been called from 1-5pm (local time) on Thursday afternoon at Milano Malpensa Airport, Milano Linate Airport and Bergamo Orio al Serio Airport by air traffic control and airport ground staff,” an Arsenal statement read.

“Please contact your airline provider if this could affect your travel arrangements.

“Workers on Milan’s public transport system have also called a strike between the hours of 8.45am -3pm and 6pm - the end of the service (local times). Italian authorities are recommending supporters wishing to use public transport travel to the San Siro between 3-6pm, by either Line 1 (Red Line) or Line 5 (Purple Line), and leave plenty of time for their journeys.

“AC Milan have advised us that Arsenal supporters will be held back for a period at the end of the match, for the safety of all fans. We will work with AC Milan and the local authorities to make departure from the stadium as smooth as possible.”
