WAYNE ROONEY has confirmed he will be staying at Manchester United.

The Manchester United captain had been tipped to leave Old Trafford after falling down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho.
Wayne Rooney was the subject of interest from the Chinese Super League and reports today suggested his agent was in China to discuss a potential move.
But the England captain has finally put to bed speculation of him leaving.

Rooney said: “Despite the interest which has been shown from other clubs, for which I’m grateful, I want to end recent speculation and say that I am staying at Man United.
“I hope I'll play a full part in helping the team in its fight for success on four fronts.

“It’s an exciting time at the club and I want to remain a part of it.”
Rooney could now be in contention for United's EFL Cup final against Southampton on Sunday (4.30pm) having missed United's last five games though injury.
