Inspired Ramsey
Aaron Ramsey has made quite an impression in his short Arsenal career – and yesterday revealed his inspiration is Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard.
Welshman Ramsey, 17, joined the Gunners for £5million in mid-June and made his ninth appearance when he started their Champions League win over Dynamo Kiev.
He also made his full international debut against Denmark 10 days ago and said: “I like to attack, to get forward, join the strikers when I can. I’ve always liked the way Steven Gerrard plays and tried to model myself on him and his game.
“I’m really enjoying it at Arsenal. It has been a big learning curve but I already feel as if I’ve learnt a lot. Playing alongside world-class players is a big help.”
Another help has been Tottenham left-back Chris Gunter. Ramsey added: “I’ve known Chris for quite a few years and he said, ‘Why don’t you come and live with me for a bit until you’ve settled here?’.”
