Happier days for cool Beye
THESE may not be ‘Happy Days’ for Newcastle United fans, but at least they can sing the show’s theme tune to show their support for defender Habib Beye.
Senegal international Beye has quickly become a fans’ favourite at St James’ Park, so much so that he has been given the ultimate terrace accolade, his own song.

He said: “It is very popular. Monday, Tuesday, Habib Beye. Wednesday, Thursday, Habib Beye. Yes, I like it.
“I used to watch Happy Days and know all about the Fonz. My jacket is like his. The Fonz was cool but I am cool too.”
Beye has been one of the few bright notes in the past 18 months on Tyneside, after his £2million move from Marseille.
He is adamant the players are solidly behind interim manager Joe Kinnear as they seek a second straight home win over Aston Villa tonight to get out of the bottom three.
“When Kevin Keegan went, it was not a good time,” said Beye. “We must help Joe Kinnear do something good for this club – the most important thing is Newcastle United. Joe has tried to create a good spirit.”
TV: Setanta Sport 1. Kick-off: 8pm.
