Liverpool target completes 'secret' medical after Inter Milan U-turn
CANER ERKIN has reportedly undergone a 'secret' medical at Inter Milan.
Fenerbahce defender Caner Erkin has undergone a 'secret' medical at Inter Milan
The 27-year-old's contract at current club Fenerbahce is due to expire in the summer and his availability has attracted the interest of a host of European clubs, including Premier League rivals Liverpool and Everton.
Express Sport understands the Reds are looking to strengthen their defence this summer and provide competition for Alberto Moreno in particular.
Erkin was reportedly scouted by Liverpool pair Dave McDonough and Kevin Hunt in March and are thought to have returned with positive reports for Jurgen Klopp.
It then emerged that Liverpool had missed out on Erkin after it was reported that he had agreed a four-year deal with Inter Milan worth £8million, but these claims were later rubbished by his agent Batur Altiparmak.
Spotlight On Jurgen Klopp
However, it appears a deal to take Erkin to Inter Milan is back on after Italian website TuttoMercatoWeb claimed he underwent a 'secret' medical at Inter and looks certain to sign for the club on a free transfer in the summer.
Providing the deal goes through on this occasion, Liverpool will have to look elsewhere to bolster their ranks at left-back.
And are understood to already have alternatives targets in West Ham's Aaron Cresswell and FC Cologne's Jonas Hector.
