Manchester United rocked by Jose Mourinho ultimatum as manager sets May deadline
MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly been set a deadline to seal the deal for Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho was sacked by Chelsea in December and is said to be tired of waiting for Manchester United
Express Sport understands Mourinho is expecting to take over from Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford this summer if the Dutchman fails to qualify for the Champions League.
And while United are only a point off fourth-placed Manchester City, their dreary style of football and Van Gaal's confrontations with the press have led to his position coming under increasing scrutiny.
Meanwhile Mourinho, who was sacked by Chelsea back in December, has reportedly been turning down other job offers with an eye on the post at United.
Woodward has so far shown loyalty to Van Gaal despite his numerous alleged offers to resign.
But United fans' preference is clearly towards Mourinho and with the transfer window opening on July 1 the Portuguese is keen to be in place well before that date.
