DIDIER DESCHAMPS discussed the possibility of managing Chelsea with the French Football Federation, the organisation's president has revealed.
French coach Didier Deschamps won the FA Cup with Chelsea in 2000
Deschamps, 47, is currently head coach of the France national team.
He was reportedly on a list of candidates to take over from Chelsea interim manager Guus Hiddink this summer.
But Express Sport understands the Blues have settled on Italy head coach Antonio Conte, who is said to be close to agreeing terms.
Deschamps played for Chelsea in the 1999/2000 season, winning the FA Cup before leaving for La Liga side Valencia.
As for Conte, the Italian's representatives have been in London to negotiate terms, with Chelsea poised to agree a three-year contract worth £18million.
