He put pen to paper on a loan deal, keeping him at Stamford Bridge until the end of the season.
Both Pato and Hiddink expressed their delight at getting the deal finalised, however the Dutchman has since admitted he's never seen the striker in action.
"I haven’t watched him live but I have watched him in several video clips," he said.

Pato hasn't played competitively in Europe for a number of years now, leaving AC Milan for his homeland of Brazil in 2012.
And Hiddink is fearful he could struggle to adjust to life in the Premier League, stressing the importance of the loan deal.
"He made good appearances in Milan but you wonder always why he didn’t then make the second step.
"That’s why it’s good to have him here in the condition we do, so we can see. I will help him to try and make the next step but it’s up to him."
