The Italian has been given permission to attend the Whites’ final match of the season against Rotherham – despite serving a ban.

The Leeds owner was ordered to sever ties with the club until the end of the season after being found guilty of tax evasion in his homeland.

But the Football League have said he can watch Saturday’s match as a spectator despite being banned until Sunday. Some Leeds fans are angry with Cellino after he appeared to undermine popular manager Neil Redfearn, who is out of contract at the end of the campaign.

Assistant boss Steve Thompson was sacked unexpectedly on April 2 and six players signed by Cellino pulled out through injury at short notice ahead of Leeds’ defeat at Charlton 11 days ago.

Michael Green, a spokesman for Leeds United Supporters Trust, expects disgruntled fans to make their feelings known.

He said: “It is a matter for Mr Cellino whether he attends his first game for four months.

“From the Trust’s perspective, regardless of whether he does or doesn’t turn up, we hope he listens to the fans as they articulate their clear support for Neil Redfearn, stability, keeping our young talent and Leeds United.”

But when asked if he would be attending the game, Cellino said: “I don’t know. I haven’t decided. The Football League say I’m allowed to go but I don’t know what I’ll do.

“I need a clear head and I need to start again with everything next week. I’m not decided.”
