Raheem Sterling Backs Labour Candidate Dawn Butler for Brent Central - General Election 2015

The Liverpool midfielder says Butler helped his family when he was growing up.

Butler was the Member of Parliament for Brent South between May 2005 and May 2010, but lost out to Liberal Democrats candidate Sarah Teather five years ago when three constituencies merged to form Brent Central.

He said: "Hi, my name's Raheem Sterling and I'd just like to say a big thank you to Dawn for helping me and my family when we lived in Brent.

"She's been a massive help to us when I was growing up and hopefully we can see her as MP again soon."

The England star has been embroiled in a contract stand-off with Liverpool and claimed to have turned down a £100,000-a-week deal to stay Anfield.

He has been linked with a move to Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City, while Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have also expressed an interest.
