The Norwegian, nominated for the PFA Scotland Player of the Year award, has had an excellent first full season in Scotland after moving to Glasgow in January last year.

And having scored 12 goals this term, including seven in the last two-and-a-half months, the 24-year-old’s impressive form has not gone unnoticed.

Johansen has been linked with moves to Germany and England, but Hoops boss Ronny Deila is desperate to extend his former Stromsgodset player’s stay with the Premiership title holders.

Johansen still has two years of his contract with Celtic to run and insisted this week he has no intention of quitting the club this summer.

“You’re always happy to hear the club wants to keep you – you know then you have done a good job and it’s been appreciated,” said Johansen.

“I feel I’ve had a good season, but I think I can develop more.

“Things are going well for me and well for the team.

“I really like Glasgow and playing for Celtic, and if a new contract is mentioned I will certainly have talks.”

The Hoops travel to Dundee United today. The clubs have already met six times this season, including a replayed Scottish Cup tie and a Scottish League Cup Final, with the Parkhead side winning the four matches in Glasgow but still looking for a victory at Tannadice.

Four of those meetings took place in March and familiarity occasionally led to contempt with six players dismissed – four from United.

Celtic boss Deila is hoping both sides finish with 11 men on this occasion.

“I expect a high intensity game but hopefully without any red cards,” he said.
