The Dutch tactician is on course to return to the Red Devils to the Champions League at the first time of asking.
The 63-year-old's target at the beginning of the campaign was to secure a top-four spot, but he is not prepared to settle for just European qualification again.

And Van Gaal, who has won seven league titles during his time Ajax, Barcelona, AZ Alkmaar and Bayern Munich, is hoping to add the Premier League to his list of honours.
The Red Devils boss said: "We set this goal (Champions League qualification) because it was very difficult to get the top four.

"We have discussed our goal with the board and the owners and they have set this goal. I am the manager and I have to achieve it. They have set it for me.
"But I am always in a club to win the championship and not just the third or fourth position. When we achieve our goal the board and owners will be very happy."
