Van Gaal talks £300m transfer wishlist with fan (and does he drop hint over Depay deal?)

LOUIS VAN GAAL showed off his funny side by discussing a stunning transfer wishlist worth £300million with a fan.

Man United boss Louis van Gaal discusses transfer targets in heart-warming video

During a charity day at United's Carrington training ground for supporters with life-limiting illnesses, the United boss was presented with a list of transfer targets by one cheeky fella.

But rather than shirk at the shortlist, Van Gaal was quick to embrace the potentially tricky situation.

The fan handed the Dutchman a piece of paper with players and their valuations on it, adding: "I did some homework for you and brought a transfer list.

Van Gaal then opens up the shortlist to much amusement in the room.

"(Mats) Hummels, (Nathaniel) Clyne, (Paul) Pogba, (Gareth) Bale, (Memphis) Depay, Jackson Martinez," says the 63-year-old, listing the names on the sheet.

"Thanks you for your advice," he adds, putting the list in his pocket.

"You are smart and a very cheap manager!"

Van Gaal then signs a United shirt for the delighted fan.

The Red Devils boss is clearly not camera shy, happy to discuss the values of each player later in the video.

However, this time he decides to leave out Depay's name and price.

"I have the list here with me, Hummels £36m, Clyne of Southampton £15m, Pogba £75m, Bale £120m… and Jackson Martinez of Porto £25m."

"It's easy for me, next year we are the champions."

Memphis Depay Player Profile

United are currently pitched in a £25m battle with Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain for PSV ace Depay.

So did he decide against naming a price to protect the the club in negotiations? Or was it an innocuous mistake?

One thing is for sure, Van Gaal is certainly not afraid to have a laugh.
