He is likely to earn around £100,000-a-week which will be topped up by bonuses, replacing his old deal which was due to expire in the summer of 2016.

Liverpool are also hoping to tie up a long term deal for youngster Jordon Ibe.

Manager Brendan Rodgers will see Steven Gerrard leave the club this summer and Henderson’s continued development will be important as Liverpool look to cope with the loss of their most influential player over the last 18-years.
