Manchester United stars Angel Di Maria, Victor Valdes and Marcos Rojo linked up with Martin Demichelis, Pablo Zabaleta and Willy Cabellero on Sunday night.

The Argentine stars reached out to Spaniard Valdes to take their partners out to dinner at the San Carlo restaurant in Manchester.

The group enjoyed a four-hour long Italian meal that ended just after midnight this morning.

City's players were celebrating their 2-0 win over West Ham earlier in the day that kept them hot on the heels of their derby rivals.

United, meanwhile, missed the opportunity to leapfrog Arsenal into second place after losing 1-0 to Chelsea on Saturday.

Two weeks ago Zabaleta backed Di Maria to come right after a difficult season at Old Trafford and revealed that the two regularly caught up.

He said: "I have met Angel a few times in Manchester and obviously spoken when we've been on international duty together and it's been a very tough season for him not only on the field but off it as well and that has made things hard for his family.

"Sometimes when you are in a different country it can take time to settle well and because his price tag was so high, that also adds a lot of pressure, but I have no doubts he will become a big success for United because he's a top quality player and if he's not at his best at the moment, he's still a great asset to have.

"He's quick, fast and a great dribbler and whenever you play against him you know you are in for a difficult game and he's the sort of player who can really hurt you if you give him too much space and time."
