Tim Sherwood: How Arsene Wenger and I are different

TIM SHERWOOD says he and Arsene Wenger both know it's still all to play for in the FA Cup - but that's where the similarities end.

The Aston Villa manager guided his side past favourites Liverpool yesterday to book a date with Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

Goals from Christian Benteke and Fabian Delph overturned Philippe Coutinho's opener as Villa won 2-1 in their semi-final, while Arsenal beat Reading by the same scoreline after extra time.

Sherwood celebrated the result by running the length of the field, applauding the Villa fans and his players.

Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger remained his stoic self after their outing and praised Championship side Reading for their efforts.

And former Tottenham boss Sherwood believes the different reactions at full time show how dissimilar he and his counterpart are.

"I watched Arsene yesterday and saw how calm he was," he said.

"Like me, he knows nothing has been won yet, but I am sorry I can't be like Arsene Wenger was after the final whistle. I was just delighted and my emotions spilled out.

"We still have a lot of work to do in the league to be safe and will be the underdogs against Arsenal, they are the holders and want to retain it.

"It's on the back-burner for us for now but I can't wait."

Villa must play out their remaining five games of the season before facing Arsenal on 30 May.

They are just four points clear of the Premier League relegation zone and face trips to Manchester City and Southampton, along with home clashes against Everton, West Ham and Burnley before the campaign is out.
