JOSE MOURINHO says consistency has earned Eden Hazard a PFA Player of the Year nomination but that the Premier League title is still the Belgian’s top priority.

Eden Hazard has been nominated for the Player of the Year award

Hazard received recognition for his excellent season after being nominated for the award this week.

But while Mourinho says being appreciated by your fellow professionals is nice, he claims it will mean little if Chelsea don’t take the title.

He said: “It is one thing to have the talent but bringing the talent to the game - every day and in a regular way - it’s another thing entirely to be consistent.

“He’s been very consistent since the start of the season.

“In my opinion he wants to win the league, we want to win the league and it is the league we want to win not the player of the year or something like that.

“If on top of the collective ambitions, a player deserves something special and when it comes from fellow players from every team I think it means a bit more. If he gets that great.

“But the objective - his objective too - is to win the Premier League.”

And despite Chelsea’s success this season, Mourinho claims he is already out of the race for manager of the year.

He said: “I’m the last one because I never got the Manager of the Month.

“I’m out of that.

“But as with Eden I’m not here to win the manager of the season - I’m here to win the Premier League.”
