Liverpool MUST be wary of Aston Villa's bombarding tactics - Jan Molby

FORMER Liverpool midfielder Jan Molby says Brendan Rodgers' men must be wary of a dangerous Aston Villa front line at Wembley this weekend.

The two clubs clash in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday and both are bang in form.

Liverpool have recovered from league defeats to Manchester United and Arsenal to record victories over Blackburn and Newcastle.

And Villa head into the clash having overturned manager Tim Sherwood's former side Tottenham last weekend.

And Molby, who made over 200 appearances for the Reds, believes Villa, spearheaded by Christian Benteke, will be dangerous on the counter attack.

"Whatever you think of Tim Sherwood, you can't deny the impact he's had at Villa," Molby wrote in the Liverpool Echo.

"He's taken the shackles off and they're having a real go in matches now.

"At every opportunity they pile forward in numbers and have real energy in their side which can hurt opponents.

"Sherwood's biggest achievement so far has been getting one of the better strikers in the Premier League going again.

Christian Benteke has scored eight goals for Aston Villa since March

"Christian Benteke missed a lot of the season through injury and struggled on his return. But now he looks motivated and the goals are flowing.

"Six weeks ago you wouldn't have been overly concerned about a semi-final against Villa but now I think it will be extremely tight.

"The pressure is on Liverpool and I think we'll need to score two or three to get through."

Villa sit 15th in the Premier League, nine places behind Liverpool, and are seeking to reach their first FA Cup final since 2000.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have twice won the FA Cup since the turn of the century and are seeking an eighth title.
