Daniel Sturridge's Liverpool career under threat from injuries – Jamie Carragher

JAMIE CARRAGHER reckons that Daniel Sturridge's future at Liverpool is under threat following a number of high-profile injuries this season.

Daniel Sturridge Injury Record

The England international has missed the bulk of his team's Premier League and Champions League after picking up thigh and calf injuries, and is set to miss Sunday's FA Cup semi-final against Aston Villa with a hip problem.

The likes of Raheem Sterling and Philippe Coutinho have been forced to fill in due to poor performances from Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini.

Liverpool are said to be in the market for a new forward, and Carragher believes that Sturridge's place at Anfield is at risk if he fails to come back from his injury nightmare.

If your star striker is out for months on end then maybe you have to go out and buy a top class striker

Jamie Carragher

Carragher told a Kicca Q&A: [Sturridge's future] will be down to the manager. If your star striker is out for months on end then maybe you have to go out and buy a top class striker.

"And that maybe is one of the things Liverpool need to go out and look at because, while there is no question he is a top class striker, he has had his injury problems.

"They maybe do need to look at the striking options because we've played Coutinho and Sterling up top and we need to have options."
