Arsenal MUST offer Man City star four-year deal to fend off Liverpool interest

ARSENAL have been told to offer James Milner a four-year deal if they are to secure his services from Manchester City in the summer, according to reports.

James Milner Player Profile

The England international is out of contract at the end of the season and is yet to reach an agreement with City over a new deal.

The 29-year-old - who joined the ranks at the Etihad in 2010 for £26million - has already turned down a three-year extension believed to be worth £80,000-a-week.

The fact that a proven Premier League midfielder would be available on a free has attracted the attention of top-flight rivals Arsenal and Liverpool.

According to the Evening Standard, Milner favours a move to the Emirates over Anfield, but achieving a four-year contract is non-negotiable.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger remains keen on a summer move for Southampton ace Morgan Schneiderlin, but believes Milner on a free is a much more attractive prospect.

The Saints refuse to lower their valuation of £25m for the France international, a price Wenger is unwilling to meet.
