Jose Mourinho has admitted Diego Costa is with a hamstring strain but insists the Spanish striker will be back before the end of the season.

Costa has definitely been ruled out for the matches against QPR, Arsenal and Manchester United but could return against Leicester on 29 April in the best case scenario.

Mourinho said: “I think we have eight matches to play, if he plays four it’s normal.

“If he plays three it’s a little bit below what I am expecting.

“If he plays five it is more than I am expecting."

Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic will also miss the Arsenal and United games if either against QPR on Sunday.

Both player’s have picked up nine yellow cards this season and another one would see them receive automatic two-match bans.

But Mourinho intends to start both against Chris Ramsey’s side and claims they won’t be given any special instructions to avoid a booking.

He said:“If they have to make a foul for a yellow card, there’s fouls when you have to do it.

“But the way we play it is not easy for our players to be booked.

“The game is a three points game, we need points we need victories we cannot choose matches.”
