Jose Mourinho says the Premier League is different to most other leagues

The Citizens have looked like the biggest threat to Chelsea’s title ambition for most of the season.

But recent defeats have seen Manuel Pellegrini’s side fall to fourth, behind Arsenal and Manchester United.

And Mourinho insists that is simply the nature of the Premier League.

He said: “I’m not surprised because this is the Premier League.

In almost every country it is difficult for a top team to lose so many matches.

“In other leagues it is difficult to imagine that a top team can lose four, five, six, seven matches in a season.

“It is very difficult, in almost every country it is difficult for a top team to lose so many matches.

“But here, yes. Here it’s possible.

“So no, I'm not surprised. It’s happened to everybody.

“Everybody loses matches, everybody loses points.”
